Carnations don't seem to be as popular as they once were.
I admit, they aren't a flower I pick often, though they are a trusty little bloom that shouldn't be overlooked. A gentle flower with their ruffled looking petals, which continue to provide colour and cheer for weeks on end.
Carnations also carry meaning according to their colour.
A red carnation symbolises love and admiration.
A white carnation symbolises purity, pure love, innocence, faithfulness and good luck.
While a striped carnation has a more negative connotation of rejection or regret.
They are also the birth flower of January.
Each print is hand burnished using a wooden spoon. I use oil based inks for their longevity and vibrant colour. I have printed onto Japanese paper.
*The pictures are to illustrate design and colour. Due to the nature of the printing process, all prints have slight variations in depth of colour and placement.*
