ABOUT

Sophie Elm is a printmaker, illustrator and designer creating hand burnished linocut prints, printed homewares, block printed textiles and ephemera.

There is a strong horticultural theme throughout all her work, from spades and greenhouses to dahlias and radishes! It is often driven by seasonal changes in the garden and countryside around her, as well as traditions.

She likes to use vibrant colours, pattern and often combine typography too. Although her work is predominately hand burnished linocuts, she often experiments with other forms of printmaking, such as screenprint and risograph, as well as papercuts and collage. All her work starts with a hand drawn image.

Sophie also undertakes a wide variety of commissioned work, both commercial and for private clients. Please see the website for more details.

All pieces are made from her home studio in the Cotswolds.

Sophie tries to source all materials as locally as possible. Sustainability is very important to her practice.

Sophie's work has been featured in Country Living and Period Living Magazine.
